Other requirements were desktop and mobile functionality. After some research, the final design was inspired by the images posted on the outside of the DOT building. I wanted to be sure that the timeline was consistent with the overall NHTSA brand. The final deliverable included a hand coded interactive timeline with hand-drawn custom illustration. All imagery is lazy loaded only when visible to the user. The timeline is also responsive and mobile touch friendly.
